An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 13 3/4" x 16 3/4") (Learn More) Thunder Afloat, the 1939 George B. Seitz romantic World War I (WWI) submarine Navy Naval sailor military action melodrama ("True drama of America's 'Suicide Fleet'!"; "Get ready America! Here's the greatest sea-thriller of them all!" about an older man and a younger man who are enemies, but when they end up serving together in the Navy in World War I on the same boat, they manage to put aside their differences to work shoulder to shoulder to stop the German U-boats; while the movie took place in World War I, it was obviously intended to stir up U.S. patriotism against Germany just before World War II, and no doubt it was very successful doing so!) starring Wallace Beery, Chester Morris, Virginia Grey, Douglass Dumbrille, and Carl Esmond NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this window card has been trimmed and now measures 13 3/4" x 16 3/4". The window card originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this was commonly done with window cards, when the top had been left blank, or when someone had hand-scrawled play date information in that area). Most collectors do not consider it to be a significant defect at all, since only blank white paper is lost, and the window card becomes easier to frame. Condition: fair. Note that the card measures very slightly under 14" wide and has next-to-no left, right, or bottom blank borders, but it has NOT been trimmed (this was done at a time when MGM was experimenting with having as few borders as possible). There is water staining in the bottom half of the card, and it is much heavier in the bottom right corner. There are stains in Beery's credit and paper loss to the right of that credit.
