Date Sold 2/19/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Honeymoon, the 1928 Robert A. Golden silent romantic marriage canine German shepherd dog comedy starring Polly Moran, Harry Gribbon, Flash the Dog ("The Dog Extraordinary"), Bert Roach, and Dick Sutherland. Flash the Wonder Dog first appeared as a puppy in 1925's "His Master's Voice" and appeared in eight more movies over the next 13 years (which makes us wonder if his owner didn't pull a "switch" somewhere along the way). If anyone knows more about Flash the Wonder Dog, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1928 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this window card! Also note that the card measures very slightly under 14" x 22" (an extremely tiny amount in each direction!) and has no left, right, or bottom blank borders, but it has NOT been trimmed (this was done at a time when MGM was experimenting with having as few borders as possible). Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a heavy paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. Prior to paperbacking, the window card had its blank top trimmed off and there were pinholes, tears, and some paper loss around the edges, with smudges and scuffs scattered throughout the image. Overall, the window card was in good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
