An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Mr. Broadway, the 1933 Johnnie Walker New York City nightclub all-star musical comedy ("A tour of New York's famous hot spots with Ed Sullivan"; "N.T.G.'s famous paradise night club with Abe Lyman and Band"; "Famous Hollywood Night Club with Isham Jones and Band"; "Famous Central Park Casino with Ed Duchin and Band"; this was a sort of semi-documentary with Ed Sullivan, who at that time was a newspaper columnist, taking the viewer on a tour of major New York "night spots"; the highlight of the movie is the cameos of stars who appear as themselves, especially boxer Jack Dempsey, and Ruth Etting, the inspiration for the movie "Love Me or Leave Me") starring the following stars as themselves: Ed Sullivan, Frisco, N.T.G. (Nils Thor Granlund, who was a Swedish vaudeville performer, who made five movies in the 1930s and 1940s, appearing as himself, as a vaudeville performer), Jack Dempsey, Bert Lahr, Ruth Etting, Primo Carnera, Jack Benny, Hal LeRoy, Lita Grey Chaplin, Ted Husing, Lupe Velez, Jack Haley, Josephine Dunn, Johnnie Walker, Dita Parlo, and Max 'Slapsie Maxie' Rosenbloom NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has never been folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Note that this poster is old, and it would not make sense to attempt to roll it, as the paper is fragile enough that rolling it might damage it. Therefore we will send it in a large flat package. Please bear that extra shipping cost in mind BEFORE placing a bid on this poster! Note that the poster is not so fragile that it is "falling to pieces"! If it is handled carefully, it can absolutely be framed and enjoyed without any worry. Condition: good to very good. There is a vertical crease approximately 7" from the left edge of the poster and there is some separation along the top and bottom of that crease (the entire crease has been repaired with tape from the back, apparently mostly for reinforcement). The poster is somewhat brittle and there is some tattering and small paper loss around the edges (again, some repaired with tape from the back). The poster is otherwise in pretty nice condition.
