An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) The Pink Panther, the classic 1963 (released in the U.S. in 1964) Blake Edwards English/U.S. detective mystery crime comedy spoof ("You only live once... so see the Pink Panther twice!!!"; this movie spawned a long running series) starring David Niven, Peter Sellers (as Inspector Clouseau), Robert Wagner, Capucine, Brenda De Banzie, Colin Gordon, Fran Jeffries (billed as "introducing Fran Jeffries"), Claudia Cardinale ("As the Princess"), and featuring a very memorable musical soundtrack by Henry Mancini! Note that, oddly, this movie had premieres in five European countries in December 1963, and then continued to premiere in other countries in early 1964, and finally had its U.S. premiere in March 1964. We have no idea why the producers of the movie took this most unusual releasing strategy. This allowed the producers to make a sequel movie soon after filming on this movie ended, and that sequel, A Shot in the Dark, premiered in the U.S. in June 1964, just three months after this movie first played in the U.S.! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still likely has a stamp on the back in the form of a diamond that has the letters "TRR". One certainly might wonder who placed this stamp there and why. The answer is that 146 of the stills in this set of auctions come to us from a still collector who has collected for many decades, and long ago he began stamping the back of almost his stills with this stamp, and "TRR" is his initials! We said earlier "likely has", because while this collector stamped most of his stills, he did not stamp every one, so you can see for yourself if this is one of the stamped ones by looking at our image of the back of the still. Each of those stamped stills are stamped lightly, and the stamp does NOT affect the front of the still. He is a VERY advanced collector, and he has consigned many wonderful stills to us!
