A Linenbacked French Travel Poster (measures 29 1/2" x 41 1/2" [75 x 105 cm]) (Learn More)

Pougues-Les-Eaux, the 1900s French travel poster encouraging people to visit the town of Pougues-Les-Eaux in central France, and featuring Hugo D'Alesi art of a reclining woman by a river with the town behind her. Note that there is a blank yellow rectangle and a blank blue rectangle at the bottom of the poster. It appears that this poster was printed with those areas blank, and then they were sent to other cities or countries, where they could print in information in their own language. The only example of this poster we have been consigned did not have anything overprinted on those areas.
Artist: F. Hugo D'Alesi

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine. The poster was never folded. It had a 1" tear in the bottom border and tiny paper loss in the top left corner. It had a tiny round hole in the center of the left and right borders, and slight darkening in the outer edges of the blank borders. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
