eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 8t279 SHERLOCK HOLMES SIEHT DEM TOD INS GESICHT German '58 Basil Rathbone, different artwork! Date Sold 5/14/2013Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theater-Used Folded German "A1" Movie Poster (measures 23" x 33" [58 x 84 cm]) (Learn More) Sherlock Holmes Sieht Dem Tod Ins Gesicht (literally translates to "Sherlock Holmes Looks Death In The Face"), the 1958 Roy William Neill detective crime mystery thriller (based on the classic characters created by Arthur Conan Doyle) starring Basil Rathbone (as Sherlock Holmes), Nigel Bruce (as Doctor Watson), Dennis Hoey, Arthur Hohl, Gale Sondergaard, Gerald Hamer, Miles Mander, and Paul Cavanagh. Note that this film was actually a German re-edited combination of BOTH the Sherlock Holmes films "The Spider Woman" and "The Scarlet Claw", and yet they titled it "Sherlock Holmes Looks Death in the Face" (in German), and since there WAS a movie called "Sherlock Holmes Faces Death", this is very confusing to many collectors. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. There are minor creases along the foldlines and around the edges of the poster (some from the poster being folded slightly off-center at one time). The poster is otherwise in pretty nice condition.
