Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More) Burgess Meredith was born in 1907. He was a stage actor who made many movies in the late 1930s and early 1940s, and his most memorable of these was as George in Of Mice and Men, and as Ernie Pyle in The Story of G.I. Joe. He was caught up in the McCarthy blacklist, and turned to television, where he had four very memorable appearances on "The Twilight Zone", and later appeared as The Penguin on the 1960s "Batman" TV show. More recently, he is best remembered for his role in Rocky (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), as Mickey, Rocky's long suffering trainer. He appeared in a number of other movies in his later years including: Grumpy Old Men, Clash of the Titans, and Day Of The Locust (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film).
