An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Sessue Hayakawa was a Japanese actor from the 1910s to the 1960s. He was typecast playing Asian villains in the 1910s and 1920s. He made a memorable return from a long partial break from films with his starring role in The Bridge On The River Kwai (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film). Some of his other movies include: Swiss Family Robinson, House of Bamboo, and The Begger Prince. He passed away in 1973 at the age of 84. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has only Sessue Hayakawa's name, and no film title. It has a studio logo from Exhibitors Mutual, and we know that Mr. Hayakawa worked for them in the late 1910s, and possibly the early 1920s, so this poster was surely made at that time. It may have been made during the making of a specific movie, but it also could have been a "stock" poster that was sent to theaters showing Sessue Hayakawa movies. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: fair to good. The poster was never folded. There are many stains and tears around the edges, with large water stains. But most of them are in the blank borders, and the image area is in pretty good condition, so it would not be that hard to restore this poster. Learn More about condition grades
