An Autographed Color 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] REPRODUCTION Still (Learn More) Charles Bronson was born "Charles Buchinski" in 1921, and although he was only 5' 10", no one doubted his toughness. He was one of 14 children of a coal miner, and he was far from an overnight success. He didn't have his first movie role until he was 29 in 1951, and throughout the 1950s he labored in minor roles (often as a villain, because of his looks), and a few major roles in very minor movies. In 1960, when he was 38 he played Bernardo O'Reilly in The Magnificent Seven, followed by Danny "The Tunnel King" in The Great Escape, both for director John Sturges, followed by his role as Wladislaw in The Dirty Dozen, and those roles gained him much notice, and built him a cult following. But it was when he went to Europe the following year, for Once Upon a Time in The West, for Sergio Leone, and other "spaghetti" westerns, that he became an international superstar. Back in the U.S. he made the movie he is likely best remembered for, Death Wish, in 1974 (when he was 53), and the next year he starred in Hard Times, completely credible as the ultimate street fighter, even though he was 54! He was married in 1963, when he worked with David McCallum on the set of The Great Escape, and McCallum introduced Bronson to his wife Jill Ireland, and five years later Bronson and Ireland divorced their spouses and married, and remained married until Ireland's death in 1990 from breast cancer. Bronson passed away in 2003 at the age of 81. Important Added Info: Note that this REPRODUCTION still has been personally autographed (signed) by Charles Bronson! Note that many celebrities kept multiple 8" x 10" (or smaller) copies of good publicity images of themselves to sign for fans, and also many memorabilia shops sold such copy stills themselves. While they are not original stills, they are usually excellent clear copies, with a great shot of that celebrity in their heyday, which, when signed by the celebrity, makes for a wonderful framed picture on any fan's wall! About the Collection this Item Comes From Note that this item (and 83 others we are auctioning this week, each in its own auction) was consigned to us by a man who purchased the collection of a dedicated collector, who was a major film buff from the 1950s through the 1990s. He would purchase stills on stars he liked, and then he would go to events or collectibles shows (he went to virtually every collectibles show where stars appeared!), and he would get the items autographed, and many of his photos were personalized to him with nice inscriptions, because over time many of the celebrities who regularly attended shows came to be friends with him! Over many years he was able to acquire a large number of signed stills, and his collection was purchased by our consignor. In this set of auctions we are auctioning 84 of his autographed items (and we will auction others in future "all signed" auctions). We feel certain that the autographs on these items are authentic! Note that each of the 84 items from this consignor all have this paragraph on them. Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
