An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Sure Cures, the 1946 Dave O'Brien (billed as "David Barclay") slapstick baldness prevention comedy short ("A Pete Smith Specialty"; "Narrated and produced by a Smith named Pete.") starring Dave O'Brien and narrated by Pete Smith. Note that director Dave O'Brien was better known as Dave 'Tex' O'Brien, and he appeared in many B-westerns as an actor. In the mid-1940s, as his western career wound down, he turned to directing (and providing voices for) many animated shorts, including lots of Pete Smith Specialties! Also note that Smith first started producing short subjects in 1931, when they were referred to as "Pete Smith Specialties"; he made an astounding 155 of these over the next 24 years, narrating 135 of them, the shorts covered a wide range of unusual subjects, kind of like "Ripley's Believe It or Not"

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

Condition: good to very good. The poster had paper loss at the top and bottom crossfolds and several tears in the area surrounding the top crossfold, and several tears and scuffs in the 2" above the left half of the bottom foldline. The poster had a lesser amount of wear on the other folds and some pinholes, creases, and tears around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
