An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

Gene Tunney was a boxing heavyweight champion in the 1920s. Like so many other boxing champs, he was signed to make movies, and he made the 1926 film The Fighting Marine! Tunney had an impressive 65 wins in his 85 fight career, and defeated Jack Dempsey twice: first in 1926, taking the world heavyweight title, and defending it again in 1927 (called "The Long Count Fight"). He passed away in 1978 at the age of 81.
Important Added Info: Note that this deluxe still has been personally autographed (signed) by Gene Tunney! Along with the still is an autographed letter from Tunney, along with the mailing envelope. This autograph (like several of the others we are auctioning this week) comes from the collection of Sterling Bond, who was a major autograph collector from the 1930s to the 1960s. In the case of this particular autograph, he had met Mr. Tunney in person (as described in the letter) and had asked him for an autographed photo. Mr. Tunney took his address and first sent him this letter apologizing for not being able to send the photo at that time, and also the autographed photo, which he sent separately afterwards.

Condition: very good to fine.
