Date Sold 1/3/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Young and Beautiful, the 1934 Joseph Santley Hollywood California movie-making romantic comedy (about a publicity man for a studio who tries to turn his girlfriend into a major star, but he neglects her personally in the process) starring William Haines, Judith Allen, Joseph Cawthorn, John Miljan, James Bush, and "The WAMPAS Baby Stars". Note that the WAMPAS organization was the Western Association of Motion Picture Advertisers, which, starting in 1922, picked a group of pretty young starlets that they thought would have potential to become major stars. It continued intermittently through 1934, after which the organization disbanded. Many of the WAMPAS Baby Stars did not have significant careers, but several major stars emerged from their picks, most notably Ginger Rogers. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1934 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only auctioned a single lobby card and a few stills from this movie until we received this poster! Note that this poster was never folded. It COULD conceivably be rolled and sent in a tube, but it would certainly damage the poster to do so, so we will only send it to the winning bidder in a large flat package that measures approximately 16" x 38". Please bear this added expense in mind before bidding on this poster. Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Most of these items absolutely can only be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. Some of them might SEEM like they could be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet, but they can't. The reason these items are in this auction is specifically because they CAN'T be rolled (because rolling any of them would damage them, even if they somehow can be rolled). So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item when ready for shipping), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. Condition: fair to good. The poster was never folded. It has darkening and staining down the right 1 1/2", with small tears and tiny paper loss in parts of the borders, and paper loss in the bottom left corner and scattered small paper loss in the top left corner and in the center of the top border. It has tears in the upper left that extend into the "NAT LEVINE" and "WAMPAS" credits (see our image). The poster is fragile. Obviously, this poster has very real defects, but it is also true that the image is not very affected by those defects, and after proper restoration and paperbacking, the poster will look fantastic, with very little paint restoration required within the image.
