An Original Vintage Theatrical Exhibitor Letter (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm] when folded; 3 pages) (Learn More)

The Sting of the Lash, the 1921 Henry King silent romantic love triangle marriage melodrama ("A soul reclaimed - a story of undying love"; about a rich woman who marries the owner of a mining company, but he loses his business and becomes a bootlegger and an alcoholic, which naturally greatly strains their marriage, and when he drunkenly threatens to whip his wife's niece, she ties him up at gunpoint and whips him instead; she leaves him and becomes a successful executive at a different mining company, and finds a new love, but her husband shows up and promises to reform, and she agrees to reconcile with him!) starring Pauline Frederick, Clyde Fillmore, Lawson Butt, Lionel Belmore, and Jack Richardson. Note that the movie has a very surprisingly independent woman at its center, but due to the beliefs of the time, it was necessary to tack on a "happy" ending, where she reconciles with her abusive husband. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Important Added Info: This is cool stationery for the Robertson-Cole Distributing Corporation. They printed it on an 11" x 17" sheet that advertised their newest movie on one side and had an ad for the movie on half of the other side. The final half of that other side had the company logo at top and space for a typed letter, so they could send letters on ads for their latest movies! In this case, the letter was sent by their branch manager to a theater owner asking him to confirm that they received the one-sheet for a movie called "The Stealers"!
