An Original Vintage Theatrical Kraftbacked Folded French Two-Panel "Double Grande" Movie Poster (2p; measures 62" x 90" [157 x 229 cm]; printed in 2 pieces) (Learn More)

Le Tresor de Keriolet (literally translates to "Keriolet's Treasure"), the 1920 Felix Leonnec French silent action adventure sailing melodrama serial (in 8 chapters) starring Georges Carpentier (the real-life European heavyweight boxing champion and world light heavyweight boxing champion from 1920 to 1922, and he was also a World War I pilot; this was the first of three movies he appeared in as an actor, and either he was not much of an actor or he tired of it, because he soon went on to other things, although years later, he appeared in a few more films), Suzy Netmo, Jeannick Leonnec, Francois Descamps, Andre Nox, and Farina. It appears this serial was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster (we have never auctioned ANY movie paper from this French movie)! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Also note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this French movie! Also note that this French two-panel measures 62" x 90" [157 x 229 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Also note that this French two-panel was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Finally, note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means each of the two sections was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"), and they are two separate sections, each of which is kraftbacked. One could have both sections professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked together.

Condition: fair to good. After each section of the poster was mounted onto the kraft paper, the borders of the kraft paper were folded over the front of the borders of the poster and glued down. There are two distributor snipes glued to the bottom corners of the right half, and there are remnants of paper down the left of the right half of the poster, where the two sections were once joined. There is also a small piece of paper glued over the word next to "BOXE" at top center. A restorer can remove the poster from the kraft paper and properly linenback it, but this would certainly require a lot of work, so bear this in mind before bidding on this poster.
