An Original Vintage Theatrical Jumbo Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) My Gal Sal, the 1942 Irving Cummings New York City songwriting romantic carnival biographical musical ("Famous songs by Paul Dresser"; based on the story by Theodore Dreiser; about a carnival worker who meets a beautiful singer from New York, and he follows her there, where he becomes a songwriter, and they have a love/hate relationship over many years) starring Rita Hayworth (in the title role as Sally Elliot), Victor Mature, John Sutton, Carole Landis, James Gleason, Phil Silvers, Walter Catlett, Mona Maris, and Frank Orth NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Some of these items can ONLY be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. On some of them (for example f it is a size that might ordinarily be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet), the reason it is in this auction is specifically because we feel it either CAN'T be rolled or because we feel it would be a mistake to roll it, because it might well damage the item. In the case of the few items that could be rolled, we will roll the item in a tube if the new owner insists, but only if they accept that they can't return the item if it is damaged from being rolled. So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. Condition: fair. The card had a semi-circular tear in the bottom that extended into Hayworth's mouth. Someone with very limited thinking capacity "repaired" this by putting paper tape on the back of that tear, which was not bad, but then they added paper tape to the front of that tear, which really made no sense at all. There are also smudges and stains around the edges, with some dot stains and smudges scattered in the image. Obviously, a restorer can remove the paper tape and perform the rest of the needed restoration, but bear in mind its condition and the cost of restoration before placing a bid.
