eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 4w871 SONG OF THE OPEN ROAD LC '44 W.C. Fields, Edgar Bergen & Charlie McCarthy with mini dummy! Date Sold 1/29/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Song of the Open Road, the 1944 S. Sylvan Simon United Artists all-star musical comedy ("She stole my Radio Show... She stole My Heart... But She's still Tops with me in the Season's Top Musical Hit...!"; other studios had been making all-star musical comedies to raise morale during World War II, and United Artists wanted to do its part, but in order to have a credible lineup, they had to "cheap" a little and use some stars from other studios, and also use some not quite "first rank" stars like Regis Toomey; sorry, Regis!) starring Edgar Bergen & Charlie McCarthy, Bonita Granville, W.C. Fields, Peggy O'Neill, Jackie Moran, Bill Christy, Reginald Denny, Regis Toomey, Rose Hobart, Pat Starling, Sammy Kaye and His Orchestra, and Jane Powell (billed as "Introducing Jane Powell"; she was only 14 years-old at the time; she had been singing coloratura soprano on the radio, and was given a chance to be in this movie; I bet no one would have guessed she would go on to be a major musical star of the 1950s!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this wonderful card features a great image of W.C. Fields and Edgar Bergen & Charlie McCarthy, and Charlie McCarthy has a little "Charlie McCarthy" sitting on his knee! Condition: good to very good. There are pinholes in the corners. There is paper loss in the "O" of "OPEN" in the title and a tear in the background to the right of Fields' head. There are smudges around the edges (see our image). The card was purchased from an eMoviePoster.com auction in 2009 and the buyer put the label from that auction on the back of the top right corner of the card, but it does not affect the front. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
