A 1947 Re-Release Theatrical Autographed Movie Lobby Card #4 (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Cheers for Miss Bishop, the 1941 Tay Garnett school teacher romantic melodrama ("The woman you'll never forget! The love story you'll never forget! The picture you'll never forget!"; "From the novel 'Miss Bishop' by Bess Streeter Aldrich"; "Screen Adaptation by Stephen Vincent Benet"; about a woman who never marries and who becomes a teacher, and when she grows old, she feels she has "wasted" her life, but at the climax of the movie, a lot of her former pupils, now famous, return to tell her how much good she did them) starring Martha Scott (in the title role as Ella Bishop), William Gargan, Edmund Gwenn, Sidney Blackmer, Dorothy Peterson, Sterling Holloway, Donald Douglas, Marsha Hunt, Lois Ranson, and Mary Anderson. Note that United Artists was afraid that audiences would not respond to this story of a dedicated unmarried teacher, so they promoted it like a tawdry romance, with the lurid taglines "SHOULD I have loved the way I did? ...I offered my heart to him when he knew so much of love, and I knew so little." and "Shall I cast aside a lifetime of love - for one tawdry moment in a man's past?"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this lobby card has been personally autographed (signed) by BOTH Martha Scott AND Mary Anderson! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Note that our consignor purchased a collection of autographed lobby cards that were collected by Leonard Sorgi, who was a unit manager for ABC for shows like The Soupy Sales Show, The Jerry Mahoney Show, and many others. He was also Unit Manager for the Academy Awards for a number of years, and during his long and varied career, he met many celebrities and obtained autographs from them in person (often personalized to him). In the past, we have auctioned many signed stills from Mr. Sorgi's amazing collection, and just a few lobby cards, but in this set of auctions, we are auctioning 156 signed lobby cards, all at one time (we are also auctioning some more signed stills from the same collection)! Our consignor (and we) feel certain that the autograph on this card is authentic! This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase many great signed lobby cards. Condition: very good to fine. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
