An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie 7 3/4" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Key Book Still (Learn More) Edna Ferber's Show Boat, the 1936 James Whale epic romantic interracial romance riverboat musical ("Version of 1936"; "The grandest show you'll ever know!"; "Hear Glorious New Music and Songs by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein") starring Irene Dunne, Allan Jones, Charles Winninger, Paul Robeson, Helen Morgan, Helen Westley, Queenie Smith, Sammy White, Donald Cook, Hattie McDaniel, Sunnie O'Dea, "and a Cast of Thousands". Note that Universal had previously made a version of this classic stage play in 1929 (starring Lauira LaPlante, Joseph Schildkraut, and Jules Bledsoe), and it was remade again in 1951 (starring Howard Keel, Ava Gardner, and William Warfield)! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that someone wrote the stars' names over their figures. We don't know if this was someone connected with the studio or just someone doing it, but they had very neat handwriting, and they even used a black pen for Irene Dunne, because she had a white dress on, and the white ink they used for the others wouldn't show. Note that the still is glued to a linen-like backing (we think it is highly likely this was a key book still, and that someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the left of the still, no doubt so it could be put in a frame). Condition: very good. It is hard to evaluate the handwritten names on the still. To some they would be a detraction, and to others a cool addition! Learn More about condition grades
