Important Added Info: See below for more about this very unusual poster. But we also want to mention that this one is different than the others that were found together. The others measured 30" x 40" and were made on a sort of clear plastic or acetate. This one is NOT clear, and has a solid white background. It also measures 28" x 38", and does not have the splits the others have, so maybe they improved the material between 1968 (when this experiment apparently started) and 1972, when this poster is from. But it seems like the experiment was still abandoned. Here is more about this and the other posters found with it: Note that there are unusual movie posters, but this might be one of the most unusual ones we have ever seen! It was found together with several other similar posters from the same time period (from the very late 1960s to the very early 1970s), and we are certain it dates from when this movie first opened. But exactly what is it? It is a movie poster that measures 28" x 38", but it is not printed on paper! Rather, it is printed on a plastic material that is likely acetate. It has full-color printing on both sides, with a tiny "PRINTED IN U.S.A." in the bottom right of the solid background area. We would have to think that this was intended to be displayed in light boxes, but for whatever reason, it either was abandoned before it was ever implemented, or it was tried and quickly abandoned. Given that we have never seen another poster like this, other than the ones we were consigned (which were found together), we think it is more likely that this got abandoned before it started (perhaps the cost of making the posters was too high, or perhaps theaters didn't want to pay to have expensive light boxes installed). In September 2017, we auctioned a 2001: A Space Odyssey poster from this find (which had different coloring from any other 2001 poster), and it auctioned for $3,961!

Condition: good to very good. Like the other posters it was found with (see above), this poster was found rolled. It had a pronounced curl to it when it was first found, but we have had it laying under weight for a long time and it has "relaxed" quite a bit, and we think that if it is left under weight for a few months more, it might completely relax and lay flat. Otherwise, the poster has a few stains in the borders and a few tiny cuts in the edges of the plastic/acetate. We don't know if it can be "cleaned" (we really don't know how cleaning solutions would react with the material the poster is made of), but we think many collectors could display it just as it is. But please read the above and look closely at our super-sized image before bidding on this poster.
