An Original Vintage Linenbacked World War II Poster (measures 20" x 28 1/2" [51 x 72 cm]) (Learn More)

Help Harvest, the 1943 U.S. World War II (WWII) Home Front poster ("Join the U.S. Crop Corps") encouraging citizens to help harvest crops, and featuring Chapman Morley art of a family doing their part. Note that with men joining the military and workers being lured away by high-paying defense jobs, farmers were having trouble getting their crops planted, cultivated, harvested, and transported to market. Note that in World War I, there was a "Women's Land Army" that served the purpose of women (and ineligible men) volunteering for jobs normally performed by the men who were now away at war. This was revived during World War II, and part of it was the U.S. Crops Corps, which specifically focused on farming. In 1945, the movie "Song of the Open Road" was set in one of the farm camps, and they had the presence of W.C. Fields, Bergen & McCarthy, and Jane Powell to make it a major movie!
Artist: Chapman Morley
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this World War II poster!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny bits of surface paper loss on parts of the folds and very minor border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
