A Vintage Big Little Book (measures 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" [9 x 11 cm]; 218 pages) (Learn More) Tarzan is a fictional character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs in 1912. Tarzan first appeared in the novel Tarzan of the Apes (magazine publication in 1912 and book publication in 1914). He is depicted as a feral child raised in the African jungles by the great apes who later experiences civilization only to largely reject it and return to the wild as a heroic adventurer. The character has appeared in practically every form of media, including at least 100 movies starting in 1914, plus comic books, comic strips, TV shows, and much more! Important Added Info: Note that Whitman created this book in 1934 after the great success of Tarzan the Ape Man and Tarzan Escapes. It has a biography of Johnny Weissmuller together with images from the two already released movies. Note that in the 1930s, Whitman Publishing had great success with "Big Little Books", and the similar "Better Little Books", which were tiny books that each had an image on one side and text on the other. They were mostly aimed at children and teenagers, and often were adapted from comic strips, comic books, movies, etc. Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, which should greatly help you judge the condition of this book.
UPDATED 10/04/2016: Note that we have updated Condition Description. Condition: fair to good. Note that the spine is separated from the front cover (it is still attached to the back cover), and it could be glued or re-attached in some other way Learn More about condition grades
