An Original Vintage Theatrical Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Arise, My Love, the 1940 Mitchell Leisen post Spanish Civil War newspaper journalism romantic comedy melodrama ("The Laughs of MIDNIGHT"; "The Love Story of A FAREWELL TO ARMS"; "Screenplay by Charles Brackett and Billy Wilder"; "Adaptation by Jacques Thery - Of an Original Story by Benjamin Glazer and John S. Toldy"; a pretty odd story of an American who is sentenced to death for his participation on the losing side of the Spanish Civil War, and a female reporter rescues him, and they resist romance because both are more interested in their individual careers!) starring Claudette Colbert, Ray Milland, Walter Abel, Dick Purcell, Dennis O'Keefe, Esther Dale, and George Zucco NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Because this poster is quite old and fragile, it can't be reasonably rolled (because that would almost surely damage the poster) and it will need to be sent in a large flat package, so bear in mind this additional cost when bidding on this poster. Condition: fair to good. The poster was never machine-folded but it was once partially folded down the middle by hand and there are many creases scattered throughout the poster including ones in Milland's face. They are not really in Colbert's face, but there are faint smudges there and there are also some smudges in Milland's face. There are water stains and tears around the edges with paper loss in the bottom left corner. Someone put tape on the back of the tears, but otherwise did not restoration. This is the kind of poster that responds really well to restoration! It is likely that many or most of the stains and smudges can be removed chemically, and after proper restoration the poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition, the cost of restoration, and the cost of shipping in a oversize flat package before bidding on it.
