An Original Vintage Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Paramount Burton Holmes Travel Pictures, the 1910s - 1920s silent travelogue documentary series ("World Famous Traveler") featuring Burton Holmes. Note that Burton Holmes was a famous world traveler. It is estimated that he gave over 8,000 illustrated travel lectures, using slides and motion pictures, from the 1890s to the 1950s. He traveled to every continent and to every country he could, circling the globe six times. Astoundingly, almost all his journeys took place before the invention of the airplane! When Paramount and MGM brought the Burton Holmes series to the big screen in the late 1910s and 1920s, it showed the adventures of the world traveler to audiences across the nation. One-sheets were made for each of these travelogues, but very few survive from any of them! Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good to fine. The slide is in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
