An Original Vintage Costume with Certificate of Authenticity (Learn More)

Doctor Dolittle, the 1967 Richard Fleischer romantic family musical fantasy adventure comedy ("The most joyous entertainment for the whole family!"; "Ride across the sea inside the Giant Pink Sea Snail!"; "Escape a shipwreck and travel on a floating island with cannibals who perform Shakespeare!"; "Join the Fabulous Circus with the only Pushmi-Pullyu in captivity"; "Learn to talk in 500 animal languages from a parrot who speaks 1000!"; "You've never seen anything like it in your life!"; "The gaiety and romance of the world of Doctor Dolittle enhanced by 14 glorious songs."; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a man who suddenly has the ability to talk to animals) starring Rex Harrison (in the title role as Dr. Doolittle), Samantha Eggar, Anthony Newley, Richard Attenborough ("as 'Blossom'"), and Peter Bull. Note that this movie was officially released in December of 1967 (to qualify for the Oscars), but this roadshow version under-performed at the box office, and an edited version was finally given a general release a year later in December 1968, and that continued into 1969. One could argue that the "regular" release posters from December 1968 and 1969 are from a sort of "continuous first release", but we are calling them a re-release ("R69") because of the long delay between the roadshow release and the regular release.

Important Added Info: Note that this is a costume used in the movie. It was purchased from Western Costume Co. in Hollywood, and it includes a "certificate of authenticity" from "Hollywood Movie Costumes" (see our image) and this very cool costume includes faux seashells and seaweed! Also note that we cannot provide exact measurements for the costumes being auctioned in this set of auctions, so please bear that in mind when placing a bid.

Note that this item needs to be shipped in a box, which might be a fairly small box, or might be a very large box. What is important for the bidders to know is that this item very likely CAN'T be combined with other purchases, because there would not be much savings if any, because this item will be in a box with substantial depth (because the item is "three-dimensional"), while other purchases will be in a flat package, and trying to combine them would likely damage this item. If you purchase multiple items like this (ones that need to be packed in a box), then they likely can be combined with each other (unless the resulting box is simply too large). So please bear in mind that this item likely must be sent separately in a box (the size and depth of the box will depend on the size of the item), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it (so if you would pay $150 for the item, but the shipping is likely $100, then only bid $50 for the item).

Condition: very good. The item has signs of use and general wear, as can be expected with a vintage movie costume. It is in pretty nice condition (see our image).
