An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Domestic Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) Ian Fleming's Diamonds Are Forever, the 1971 Guy Hamilton English James Bond 007 secret agent spy espionage fantasy action adventure thriller ("Diamonds are Forever Forever Forever Forever Forever Forever"; based on the novel by Ian Fleming) starring Sean Connery (as James Bond), Jill St. John ("as 'Tiffany Case'"), Charles Gray (as Blofeld), Lana Wood (billed as "also starring Lana Wood as 'Plenty O'Toole'"), Jimmy Dean, Bruce Cabot, Lola Larson (as "Bambi"), Trina Parks (as "Thumper", one of the few black African American Bond girls!), and Denise Perrier. Note that the part of Bambi was originally played by Donna Garrett, but she was replaced mid-filming by Lola Larson, and no footage of Garrett remains in the movie, but there may be some publicity photos with her (Garrett and Larson looked very much alike). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Robert McGinnis Important Added Info: Note that this poster is the "domestic" style (it was stamped "DOM" on the back, which means it was printed for use within the United States). This is true of most three-sheets and six-sheets from this time period, but this is especially important on the James Bond posters, because the producers (Saltzman and Broccoli) were unable to agree on who should get first billing! They resolved this by having posters for half of the world having one of their names first, and on the other half of the world, they reversed it, and this was true for most of the James Bond movies. For many posters, one would be stamped "EAST HEMI" and the other "WEST HEMI", but in this case, the three-sheets were stamped "DOM" and "FOR". BUT WHAT IS SO UNUSUAL ABOUT THIS POSTER IS THAT IT IS THE VERY FIRST "DOMESTIC" THREE-SHEET WE HAVE EVER AUCTIONED! We have previously auctioned 18 three-sheets, and EVERY one of those 18 were "foreign" ones! This is the first domestic one, and the only one that has Broccoli's credit first, and ratings on the poster, and it may be many years before we offer another one. Also note that this three-sheet was printed in 1 section. Condition: good. There is slight darkening across the bottom 3" of the poster and some water staining down the left side of the left blank border. However, the poster is otherwise in nice condition! After a relatively simple linenbacking (but it should be done by a top professional), the poster will display fantastically, and it will likely require virtually no paint restoration anywhere in the image.
