An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Local Theater Forty by Sixty Movie Poster (40x60; measures 40" x 60" [102 x 152 cm]) (Learn More)

The Moon's Our Home, the 1936 William A. Seiter romantic screwball comedy ("We'll fight every day, darling, and make up every night!"; "Adapted from Faith Baldwin's Cosmopolitan Magazine Serial"; about a movie star who meets a famous author and they both have no idea that the other one is famous) starring Margaret Sullavan, Henry Fonda (in his fifth movie role!), Charles Butterworth, Beulah Bondi, Henrietta Crosman, Walter Brennan, and Dorothy Stickney

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is a local theater 40x60 that was created when the movie first played, on a heavy board. Theaters would hire local employees who had artistic talent to hand create posters like these, and they are original works of art that are one of a kind and are actually hand painted by unknown local artists of the time. The theater would then display posters like these around town in store windows or in the windows of the theater. Because of their size, very few survive! We will pack this poster between four super heavy 32" x 62" boards that we have purchased for $5 each, meaning that the cost of packaging this poster is $20 (because of the expense of the large cardboard). VERY IMPORTANT! This poster will likely cost around $100 total to send within the U.S. via ground UPS (but of course, we will only charge the actual cost of shipping) plus the above stated $20 for the packaging materials (we are also auctioning similar size posters that could be packed together with this one, and if so, the shipping per poster will come down drastically). Please bear this shipping cost in mind before placing a bid on this poster (and it would surely cost hundreds of dollars to send it out of the United States, so we ask that no one bid on this poster unless they can accept delivery of it within the U.S.).

Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Most of these items absolutely can only be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. Some of them might SEEM like they could be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet, but they can't. The reason these items are in this auction is specifically because they CAN'T be rolled (because rolling any of them would damage them, even if they somehow can be rolled). So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item when ready for shipping), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. IN THE CASE OF EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, THE SHIPPING COST WILL BE VERY HIGH, SO PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THAT ADDED SHIPPING AMOUNT, AND INCLUDE THAT AMOUNT IN WHAT YOU BID (so if you would pay $150, but the shipping is likely $100, then only bid $50). And those who live outside the U.S. and who do not have a U.S. address to ship to SHOULD NOT BID AT ALL ON EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, BECAUSE THEY COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO SEND OUTSIDE THE U.S.

Condition: fair to good. There are many smudges, scuffs, and small stains scattered throughout the poster. They are not all that distracting from a distance, but from close up, they are very noticeable. There is also much minor border wear, including nail holes in the corners.
