An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 30 1/4") (Learn More) Pirate Treasure, the 1934 Ray Taylor seafaring action adventure serial ("12 Thrilling Chapters of Heart-Stopping Action!"; "Story by Ella O'Neill") starring Richard Talmadge, Lucille Lund, Walter Miller, Pat O'Malley, and William Desmond. Note that Richard Talmadge was born "Sylvester Alphonse Metz", and he was an acrobat with the Barnum and Bailey Circus. He got a job in Hollywood as a stuntman for Douglas Fairbanks Sr., and then graduated to starring in movies, always performing lots of stunts. He had two acrobat brothers, Otto Metzetti and Victor Metz, who appeared with him in some of his movies. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Also note that this is a rare "pre-War" Belgian poster. Prior to World War II, Belgian posters were much larger than the ones from after the war, and they are extremely rare (because during WWII, there was a massive paper shortage in Belgium, and they took virtually every poster and map, and printed new posters on the backs of them!). UPDATED 09/05/2011: Note that a knowledgeable collector pointed out that this is the 1934 Universal serial "Pirate Treasure" starring Richard Talmadge (whose nickname in French-speaking countries is Diavolo!). We have updated the film description accordingly. Condition: good. The poster has become somewhat brittle and there is some tattering and paper loss around the edges. There is a tax stamp at right and it appears that the text at bottom is from an ink pad stamp. Fortunately, the poster's defects are mostly confined to the borders and background and after linenbacking the poster will surely display nicely! Learn More about condition grades
