Date Sold 9/13/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Television Script (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm], 94 pages) (Learn More) Perry Mason, the 1957 - 1966 Erle Stanley Gardner courtroom legal lawyer attorney mystery crime melodrama television (TV) series starring Raymond Burr (in the title role as Perry Mason), Barbara Hale (as Della Street), William Hopper (as Paul Drake), Ray Collins, and William Talman. Note that Raymond Burr had been "typecast" as a heavy in 1950s movies prior to appearing on this TV show (his most notable performance was in "Rear Window"). Burr thought that his weight might be a factor in that, and he went on a massive diet prior to trying out for this show, and he lost around 100 pounds, and that did the trick, and he was cast as Perry Mason, which was the turning point in his career! Important Added Info: Note that this script is the revised draft from June 4, 1964 (for the episode "The Case of the Nautical Knot") and the screenplay was written by Robert Leslie Bellem. Note that this script was the personal copy of actress Barbara Bain, who had been married to Martin Landau since 1957. This is one of two Perry Mason shows she appeared in (the other was from 1960). She solely did TV work, and her big break came in 1966 when she and her husband joined the cast of "Mission: Impossible" (she played Cinnamon Carter). The script has many pencil notations on the cover and inside cover, and the title page has many notations, and Miss Bain ripped off part of the bottom of the title page (no doubt to give to someone). The back side of that page has many doodles by her! The script has her name and character name written on the cover, and on the page with the cast list, her name is circled. She went through the script folding back the pages where she had lines, and she circled her dialog. Also note that there are undated blue and yellow revision pages. Condition: very good. There is much writing on the script, but since it was almost surely put there by Barbara Bain herself, we don't see it as a detraction! See above for what she did to the script. Note that we have photographed the cover of the script, the title page, the final page of the script (the one that reads "THE END"), and one or more interior pages. These images will not only provide important information about the script, but they also allow you to closely judge the condition of the script. The script is 100% complete!
