An Original Vintage Autographed Piece of Concept Art (measures 14 1/2" x 23 3/4") (Learn More) John Alvin was a prolific movie poster and fine artist from the 1970s to the 2000s. He created posters for over 135 movies, including: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Blade Runner, Blazing Saddles, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, The Color Purple, and Gremlins, as well as many others. He passed away in 2008 at the age of 59. Important Added Info: Note that this item (which is a piece of concept art for the E.T. advertising campaign) has been personally autographed (signed) by John Alvin! Note that the concept art is printed, and it is not original artwork. It is mounted onto a piece of stiff foamcore, which is surely how it was created. We have seen many similar pieces of concept art. They are usually printed up in very low numbers and mounted onto foamcore or board so they can be displayed to executives who make the decision about which art to use. Our consignor is a very longtime collector of movie paper who purchased this item years ago, and it was signed, but he doesn't know how the signature was obtained, and he (and we) believe it is likely that the autograph is authentic. Condition: very good. The concept art was mounted onto a piece of stiff foamcore, which is surely how it was created. It was in a frame at one time and there are indentations around the edges of the back of the foamcore where nails held it in place and there are some tiny scuffs around the edges of the front. There are some light water stains on the front of the foamcore but they do not affect the front. Learn More about condition grades
