Date Sold 11/16/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Folded Two-Sheet Poster (2sh; measures 41" x 56" [104 x 142 cm]) (Learn More) Philip Morris Parade of Stars, the 1940s musical performance poster ("In Person"; "40 of America's greatest entertainers discovered by Horace Heidt") featuring Horace Heidt's musical group Philip Morris Parade of Stars. Horace Heidt was one of the most popular radio band leaders from 1932 to 1953. In 1947, Heidt had The Horace Heidt Youth Opportunity Program, which was a talent search radio show (basically, the radio version of today's American Idol), and many performers who later became famous first appeared on this show, including Art Carney (as a singing comedian!), Gordon MacRae, Al Hirt, and many others! Since this poster says the entertainers were "discovered by" Horace Heidt, it seems likely it dates from the late 1940s after this show had been on the air for a couple of years. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
