An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 14" x 18" [36 x 46 cm]; 24 pages) (Learn More) Darryl F. Zanuck's Island in the Sun, the 1957 Robert Rossen Caribbean interracial romance romantic tropical island melodrama ("The people, the events of the international best-seller are on the screen!"; "The place is the West Indies... where the sun hides many things!"; produced by Darryl F. Zanuck; with screenplay by Alfred Hayes; based on the novel by Alec Waugh) starring James Mason, Joan Fontaine, Dorothy Dandridge, Joan Collins, Michael Rennie, Harry Belafonte ("as Boyeur"; the singer in his third movie role!), Diana Wynyard, John Williams, Stephen Boyd, Basil Sydney, and Patricia Owens. Note that this movie contained an interracial kiss, which sadly caused quite a stir (a decade later, a similar kiss between William Shatner and Nichelle Nichols was still causing controversy, a sad commentary on America's view toward race relations in the 1950s and 1960s). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. Learn More about condition grades
