Staatlicher Kunsthandel Der DDR (literally translates to "State Art Trade Of The GDR"), the East German poster promoting the Staatlicher Kunsthandel, which was a government organization that maintained art workshops, galleries and exhibitions of GDR art abroad, but mainly worked with the international art and antiques trade to raise much needed foreign currency from the sale of art objects in the West. To achieve this goal, they were known to confiscate private collections and cull museum collections as well.
Artist: John Heartfield
Important Added Info: Der Richter Der Gerichtete (literally translates to "The Judge, The Directional") is a 1982 poster featuring an image of Georgi Dimitrov from the Reichstag fire trial (also known as the Leipzig Trial) by John Heartfield. The Reichstag fire was an arson attack on the Reichstag building (home of the German parliament) in Berlin 1933, shortly after Hitler came to power. In July 1933, communists Marinus van der Lubbe, Ernst Torgler, Georgi Dimitrov, Blagoi Popov and Vasil Tanev were indicted on charges of setting the fire. The trial was widely publicized and it was expected that the court would find the communists guilty on all counts. Georgi Dimitrov began his testimony on the third day of the trial. He gave up his right to a court-appointed lawyer and defended himself (often using the venue to defend the ideology of communism). During the course of his defense, Dimitrov claimed that the organizers of the fire were senior members of the Nazi Party and frequently verbally clashed with Hermann Goring at the trial. In the end, only Van der Lubbe was convicted, while his fellow defendants were found not guilty. Hitler was furious with the outcome of this trial and decreed that henceforth, treason would only be tried by a newly established People's Court (which became well-known for the number of death sentences it handed down).

Condition: very good to fine. The poster has never been folded and it is in pretty nice condition!
