Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (measures 11 1/2" x 14"; 6 pages). Also included is an ad supplement that has 8 pages (measures 11 1/2" x 14"). (Learn More) Destiny, the 1944 Julien Duvivier & Reginald Le Borg romantic crime melodrama ("He judged every dame by this one...and that wasn't good!"; "Man-Trap! He hated every beautiful inch of her-for what she could do to him!"; "..as fate writes the Screen's strangest story of love!"; "The storms of the flesh match the fury of the heavens-in the screen's strangest story of love."; a weird story of a fugitive on the run who is actually guilty of his crimes, but he meets a farmer and his blind daughter, and falls in love with her, which causes him to get a new view of life, and he risks capture to help her father, but he finds he is no longer wanted, and he is able to start a life with his blind love) starring Gloria Jean, Alan Curtis, Frank Craven, Grace McDonald, Vivian Austin, Minna Gombell, and Frank Fenton. Note that this film was intended to be the opening segment of the Julien Duvivier anthology "Flesh and Fantasy". However, it was cut from that film, and Universal had Reginald Le Borg shoot additional scenes to create a complete feature. Also, Universal was apparently not too keen on selling this story of a convict redeemed by his love for a spiritual blind girl, and their advertising for the movie shows an image of Gloria Jean smiling in a sexy red dress, giving no indication she is either blind or "spiritual"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Since pressbooks were INTENDED to be cut up (the theater owners would cut out the newspaper ads to run in their local papers). It is very difficult to find a pressbook that has NOT been cut, and that ads greatly to their value! Condition: very good. Note that this pressbook is one of a great collection of 177 original vintage pressbooks, almost all of which come from Universal Studios. Most date from the 1940s and 1950s, and almost all are complete and uncut! folded in half; creases and minor tears along the fold and around the edges of covers Learn More about condition grades
