Date Sold 5/14/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Autographed 4" x 5 1/2" [10 x 14 cm] Cut Album Page (Learn More) Myrna Loy was an actress from the 1920s to the 1980s. She was born Myrna Adele Williams in 1905, and amazingly, she made 78 movies between 1925 and 1933, and she FINALLY got her big break when she signed with MGM, and the next year she made both "The Thin Man" and "Manhattan Melodrama", and the rest, as they say, was history! But what took Hollywood and film goers so long to recognize her amazing beauty and talent? In her early years of making movies, her "exotic" look led her to sometimes be cast as an Asian or Polynesian! She remained a major box office star for over two decades, and she had wonderful chemistry with ALL of her leading men, including William Powell, Cary Grant, Clark Gable, and many others! Some of her other movies include: The Best Years of Our Lives, Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, The Thin Man, Cheaper By the Dozen, and countless others. She passed away in 1993 at the age of 88. AND George Bancroft was a leading actor of the 1920s who seamlessly transferred to character roles in the 1930s and 1940s. Some of his movies include: Thunderbolt (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, The Docks of New York, Angels with Dirty Faces, and Stagecoach. He passed away in 1956 at the age of 74. Important Added Info: This cut album page has been personally autographed (signed) by BOTH Myrna Loy AND George Bancroft (there is a third signature on the same side as the Myrna Loy one, but we can't read it)! It could be matted with a vintage or repro still and framed together to make a cool display (of course, the new owner will have to decide which side to display)! Note that this is one of a wonderful collection of 91 items that were assembled by a collector decades ago, mostly from RR Auctions, which has auctioned signed items since 1976. The person who purchased these items passed away several years ago, and while he did not save most of the certificates of authenticity he received when he bought these signed items, almost all were purchased between the late 1970s and the early 1990s, and we think it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is genuine. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good.
