Date Sold 5/5/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Mini Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 8" x 14" [20 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Story of Temple Drake, the 1933 Stephen Roberts pre-Code bad girl kidnapping crime thriller ("Women whispered her name - Men laughed - but remembered!"; "Call her Bad if you will... but not until you've heard her story."; "I can never face the world again!"; based on the novel 'Sanctuary' by William Fauklner; the novel was considered too outrageous to be filmed, because it involved a rich young girl who is kidnapped and raped and then kills her kidnapper, and the movie is somewhat toned down from the novel, but it is still often cited as one of the pre-Code movies that caused the most outrage, and led to the adoption of the Code!) starring Miriam Hopkins (in the title role as Temple Drake), Jack La Rue, William Gargan, John Carradine, and Florence Eldridge NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1933 movie posters from this William Faulkner adapted movie are incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single poster from this movie until we received this mini window card (which has completely different art and a wonderful different tagline from that of the window card, which we have seen, but never auctioned)! Condition: very good. The paper that the card was printed on has darkened unevenly on the front and back, giving it a textured pattern to the white background areas (see our images). Otherwise, the card is in really nice condition, with only a slight scuff mark over the "o" of "of" and second "E" in "TEMPLE" of the title. Learn More about condition grades
