The Life of Jimmy Dolan, the 1933 Archie Mayo romantic crime boxing melodrama ("Too strange to be fiction"; "He had to 'die' to save his life!"; "Based on a play by Bertram Milhauser and Beulah Marie Dix"; about a boxer who accidentally kills a man outside the ring, and he runs off to a place where sick children are cared for, and he meets a girl he falls in love with, but then a detective comes after him and he must choose between risking his freedom and helping the kids) starring Douglas Fairbanks Jr. (in the title role as Jimmy Dolan), Loretta Young, Aline MacMahon, Guy Kibbee, Lyle Talbot, Fifi Dorsay, Harold Huber, Shirley Grey, and John Wayne (as "Smith", and he wasn't among the top 13 billed actors!). Note that this movie was mostly remade in 1939 as "They Made Me a Criminal" with John Garfield and Ann Sheridan, but the invalid kids were turned into troubled teens so that they could be played by the Dead End Kids!
