An Original Vintage Magazine Page (measures 10 3/4" x 16" [27 x 41 cm]) (Learn More) Ladies' Home Journal, the magazine ("The magazine women believe in") which was founded in 1883, and as the American housewife became a greater and greater consumer (with all the new inventions intended for the home), it continued to grow in circulation, and along with McCall's, was one of the two most influential ladies' magazines. It was an early forum for women's issues, and in 1946, it adopted the slogan "Never underestimate the power of a woman", which it still uses today. At its peak in 1968, it had a circulation of 6.8 million! Artist: Ellsworth Young Important Added Info: Note that this page was removed from a 1918 edition of this magazine (the printing on the reverse side has been pictured - see our images). It features art from from the 1918 U.S. World War I (WWI) War Bond poster by Ellsworth Young (a silhouette of a young girl being forcefully pulled away by a brutish helmeted rifle-carrying German soldier with a huge mustache, against the background of the city burning in flames.) This page can be matted or framed for little money and makes a great inexpensive display! Condition: good to very good. The page was removed from a magazine (see above). It has a few tears of varying lengths around the edges that have been repaired with tape from the back. The art of the page, and the taglines at lower center are otherwise in pretty nice condition.
