A Photographic Negative (measures 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm]) (Learn More) Peggy Shannon was an actress from the 1930s to the 1940s. She was a beautiful redhead born in Arkansas in 1907. While still a teenager, she went to New York City and appeared in The Ziegfeld Follies and Earl Carroll stage shows. She went to Hollywood in 1930, and when Clara Bow had to quit movies due to her problems, Shannon was promoted as another Clara Bow, but she was very difficult to work with and developed a major drinking problem. Her contract was not renewed, and she went to Broadway to star in a play, but she was fired from that. She returned to Hollywood and only got relatively minor parts. In 1940, she divorced her actor husband, and married a cameraman. Less than a year later, she passed away in 1941 from a a heart attack brought on from her alcoholism. She was just 34. Just 19 days after her new husband found her dead at their home, he committed suicide. Certainly, a movie could be made of this very troubled actress' life, one more story of someone who went to Hollywood and found tragedy along with fame. Important Added Info: Note that this negative has no information with it, so we don't know when it was created, but we are guessing the 1930s. Also note that this (or these, in the case of multiple negatives) was created by and sent by the studio that produced this (in the year noted on this auction) to newspapers, magazines, TV stations, or reviewers, so that they could use them to create the highest quality ads. They can be used to make very high quality reproductions, but bear in mind that we are solely auctioning the physical negatives and NOT the right to reproduce them, so unless they are public domain, the new owner must acquire the rights elsewhere before reproducing them. NOTE THAT THE ITEM(S) YOU ARE PURCHASING IS A "NEGATIVE" THAT HAS A REVERSE IMAGE, AS SEEN IN OUR PHOTO (we also scanned them as well, using a special "negative setting", which reverses the image, so that you can see how the negative appears when you reverse the image, but the buyer of this auction will receive one or more negatives, NOT a positive image, as seen in our special scan). Condition: very good. The negative does not have a plastic sleeve, but it would certainly be easy to acquire one. Learn More about condition grades
