An Original Vintage Theatrical Deluxe 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Movie Key Book Still (Learn More) Boston Blackie's Rendezvous, the 1945 Arthur Dreifuss Massachusetts detective crime mystery thriller ("Strangler on the loose! Copper on the trail! Shocker on the screen!"; "'You have a beautiful neck... to strangle!'"; "A Boston Blackie thriller... with a new twist! [a strangler]"; "Famous character of radio and fiction goes for a ride... in search of a maniacal murderer!") starring Chester Morris (in the title role as Boston Blackie), Nina Foch, Steve Cochran, Richard Lane, George E. Stone (as The Runt), Tom Kennedy, and Philip Van Zandt. Note that this is one of fourteen movies made in the 1940s with Chester Morris playing the fictional character "Boston Blackie", a former crook turned detective (there had been ten silent movies made in the 1920s), all of which were based on short stories by Jack Boyle. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the movie is called "Surprise in the Night" on the back of this still, which was the working title for this movie! Note that this still is a key book still, printed on a deluxe heavyweight paper stock. Many studios spent extra money to have their most special photos, the key book stills, either backed with linen or printed on a heavy paper, both of which enhanced their durability. They had an extra 1" at the left or top, with punch holes, because of how they were stored. Key book stills are far more rare than regular stills, which has increased their popularity among collectors, since only a few keybooks were manufactured per film, and a key book still is guaranteed to be authentic. Someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the left of the still. Condition: very good. The left 1" was neatly trimmed off (see above). Otherwise, the still is in nice condition!
