An Original Vintage Linenbacked World War I Poster (measures 22" x 27 3/4" [56 x 70 cm]) (Learn More)

Pick the Patriots in the Crowd, the 1919 U.S. World War I (WWI) war bonds poster ("It won't be hard to spot them. The little buttons with the 'V' and the faces that mirror a consciousness of duty done tell the story at a glance. The little Victory Loan button means more than mere possession. It is a badge of patriotism. Those who wear it have finished their job. Those who do not - have failed. Wear your button"; "The war is won but the bills must be paid. The success of the Victory Liberty Loan is our job. We are only lending, not giving, our money and our government guarantees its return with interest. Buy today.") featuring art of men with and without Victory Loan buttons, which identified who was supporting the war effort and who was not! Note that this was the fifth of a series of bond issues from the U.S. government. The first four were during the U.S.'s involvement in World War I, and they were to be paid back within a few years of the end of the war. This fifth and final loan (the "Victory Liberty Loan") was issued after the war ended, and it paid 4.75% and was guaranteed to be repaid in 4 years, although the government could pay it off early in 3 years if it had the money to do so!
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned this poster before!

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was folded across the middle and it had creases and scuffs along that fold. It had creases, smudges, and scuffs scattered throughout. Someone mounted it onto a thin linen with no restoration. It could be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or certainly, it could be re-backed.
