An Unfolded Advertising Poster (measures 10 1/2" x 13 1/2" [27 x 34 cm]) (Learn More) The Saturday Evening Post, the national magazine that was similar to Life magazine (which it preceded by over 200 years, because it was first published by Benjamin Franklin in 1728!), but which had more of a literary bent to it, with stories and condensed novels by notable authors, but with many well illustrated articles on current events and pop culture. The covers were always by "name" artists, and legendary artist Norman Rockwell became closely associated with the magazine and did more covers for them than almost anyone. The magazine was printed on a high quality paper stock, while many of its competitors were printed on "pulp" paper, so the issues of this magazine survive better and are of a much better quality. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the weekly magazines in the 1930s and 1940s would create various sized posters (from 11" x 14" to 22" x 28") that were printed on a heavy stock like window cards of the time, and the posters would be placed at newsstands to help promote sales of their latest issue. They would almost always feature an article about a famous celebrity. This poster is 11" x 14" and on a fairly heavy paper that can't be rolled, and its feature story is "The private life of Jimmy Cagney, Make-believe public enemy"! Condition: very good. There are some creases across the center of the card, where someone once apparently started to fold it, and very minor border wear. Learn More about condition grades
