An Original Vintage Paperbacked Magazine Cover (measures 10 1/2" x 14") (Learn More) Pictorial Review, a magazine that was published in the 1900s and 1910s (at least). We have only seen a single issue, but it seems to be a "woman's magazine", because most of the articles and cool ads are geared towards women. Of special interest in the one issue we saw is a fascinating editorial called "Wage-Earner Versus Home-Maker", which tells of a woman who is 42 and has been working since she was 17, and she never got married, and instead became a career woman, and she is unhappy with her life, and she wants to know why that is! The editor replies that he thinks the days of women getting married and simply living off their husband are passing, and that eventually married women will be expected to work just as men are! We have reproduced that editorial in our images. Artist: McClelland Barclay Important Added Info: Note that this paperbacked magazine cover is from a collection that was consigned to us by a man who collected the covers of these magazines only (of course choosing the ones with the absolute best art!), and he had all of them professionally paperbacked, which not only presents them far better, but which makes them extremely easy to frame and enjoy (not only are these works of art by famous artists of the early to middle 20th century, but they also are very nostalgic, showing America when it was growing from a minor country to the leading world power, and any of them look great framed on a wall!). What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. Prior to paperbacking, the cover had stains and smudges around the edges. Overall, the cover was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. The restorer backed the cover "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting.
