An Unfolded German Travel Poster (measures 19 3/4" x 29 1/2" [50 x 75 cm]) (Learn More)

Deutschland - Die "Ewige Wache" in Munchen (literally translates to "Germany - The Eternal Guard in Munich"), the 1930s German travel poster encouraging tourism to Munich, and featuring an image of two German Nazi SS Honor Guards at one of the twin Ewige Wache (also known as the Temple of Honor) in the Konigsplatz in Munich. In 1935, Hitler commissioned the Ewige Wache to house the graves of Nazi party members who died in the failed Beer Hall Putsch of 1923, and this poster shows a great image of this site. The bodies were removed and the structures destroyed in 1947 (with the exception of the foundations which are still there today), with much of the limestone going into rebuilding projects, and some of the steel was made into brake shoes for local buses!
Artist: Hoffmann

Condition: good. The poster was never folded. It has many small tears, creases, and some tiny areas of paper loss around the edges, and some creases scattered throughout (see our image).
