An Original Vintage Unfolded World War I Poster (measures 27 1/4" x 41 1/4" [69 x 105 cm]) (Learn More)

Lend The Way They Fight, the 1918 U.S. World War I (WWI) War Bond poster ("Buy Bonds to your utmost") encouraging people to invest in war bonds. The message is that soldiers are fighting to their absolute limit, and that civilians must support them by buying bonds to their absolute limit. Note that we are aware of two versions of this poster. One has art by E.M. Ashe showing a U.S. soldier standing over a German trench with a grenade in his hand, and the other is solely text (but that one references "Liberty Bonds", while the artwork one does not).
Artist: E.M. Ashe

Condition: good. There are many tears and small areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. There is a 25" tear starting in the center of the bottom border and running up to the right of the soldier's chest, but there is almost no paper loss on that tear, except for a little in the background at bottom center. There is an 8" tear in the center of the top border. There are a few small stains scattered in the image. Certainly, this great poster has very clear defects, but it is also true that after restoration by a talented restorer, the poster will look fantastic!
