A 1996 Re-release Vintage Unfolded Special Film Festival Movie Poster (measures 24" x 36") (Learn More) Richard III, the 1912 Andre Calmettes & James Keane silent historical royalty romantic tragedy melodrama ("Mr. Frederick Warde in the 5,000 ft. photoplay sensation Richard III, Shakespeare's masterpiece"; "Scenario arranged and production staged under the personal direction of James Keane"; based on the play by William Shakespeare) starring Frederick Warde (in the title role as Richard III), Robert Gemp, Albert Gardner, James Keane, and George Moss. Note that this was considered a lost movie (as are most of the movies of the early 1910s), but a print of it was discovered in the mid-1990s, and it was restored and shown at the AFI 1996 Los Angeles Film Festival! If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the 1912 Frederick Warde version of "Richard III" was long considered by scholars to be the first American feature film. It had been lost for almost 75 years when a collector turned up a print, which he donated to the American Film Institute. They restored it and premiered the film in 1996 at their film festival.
