An Original 1944 (from the first release of this movie in Spain) Vintage Theatrical Spanish Movie Herald (measures 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" [9 x 14 cm]) (Learn More)

Four Feathers, the 1939 Zoltan Korda English epic desert military cavalry war adventure thriller ("8,000 savage dervishes roar down the screen in violent onslaught!"; "Every emotion the screen can ever give you... all in one Magnificent picture!"; "7,200 seconds of breathless entertainment.. and every one of them packed with flesh-and-blood excitement!"; "From the novel by A.E.W. Mason"; produced by Alexander Korda; about a British army officer who must make up for his cowardice by helping his friends; a re-make of the 1929 movie of the same name) starring Ralph Richardson, C. Aubrey Smith, John Clements, June Duprez, and Allan Jeayes. Note that June Duprez became a major star in England after the release of Alexander Korda's "The Thief of Bagdad" in 1940. She went to Hollywood, but her agent thought she was a major star and wanted $50,000 per movie for her, and that priced her out of the market, so she only made a handful of movies. She then acted on Broadway for a while, and then married and returned to England.

Important Added Info: Note that we have seen two different Spanish heralds which seem to be from the first Spanish release in 1944. One has a Technicolor banner on it and the other does not, so we suspect that there was both a Technicolor release and a non-Technicolor release. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that when Spanish heralds have printing on the back, we picture both sides, but when they are blank on the back, we only picture the front.

Please note that Spanish heralds, like U.S. heralds, were printed in very large quantities, and then sent to individual theaters in Spain, and they would sometimes have the backs of them overprinted with their theater name and specific play dates. But because a movie might play in Spain for a period of a year or two (traveling from theater to theater), there is no guarantee that the date overprinted on the back of the herald is the same as the date that the herald was first printed (and the date that the movie first played in Spain).

Therefore, we don't list the date overprinted on the back of a herald as the date of the herald unless we know that was when the movie first played in Spain. If we believe the herald was printed earlier, then we use that date. If it is important to you that the date on the herald is the date the movie first opened, then please look at our image of the back of this herald to see if there is a different date printed on it.

Condition: good to very good. The herald is in pretty nice condition, and the printing from the back slightly bleeds through in the light colored places in the front, but it is not very noticeable or distracting (see our images).
