An Original Vintage Theatrical English Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Carry On Cleo, the 1964 (released in the U.S. in 1965) Gerald Thomas English Egyptian historical sexploitation comedy ("Bedlam on the Nile!"; "She had lotions... And potions... And motions!"; "The funniest film since 54 B.C."; "The greatest comedy since 54 B.C."; "Special Roar Show Engagement"; "While the characters and events in this story are based on actual characters and events, certain liberties have been taken with Cleopatra"; "in Exoticolor"; "He came ... he saw... he tinkered!"; "He wanted to rest... on his laurels"; "Cleopatra's philter made him smoke!"; "The Forum was against him!"; "Cleo shows Antony her asp!"; "He guarded Caesar, with a mean and angry look!"; "He had notions.. about her motions!"; "'Watch it Cleo..... if anyone should grasp your asp - they could be badly bitten!!!'"; very loosely based on the play by William Shakespeare) starring Sidney James (as Mark Antony), Kenneth Williams (as Julius Caesar), Kenneth Connor, Charles Hawtrey, Jim Dale, Joan Sims (as Calpurnia), Amanda Barrie (in the title role as Cleopatra), and Tanya Binning (billed on Australian posters as "with Australia's own lovely Tanya Binning"). Note that this was one of a very popular series of 30 "Carry On..." sexploitation movies that were made in England between 1958 (the first one was "Carry On Sergeant") and 1978 (at that point, it became a TV series, and there was one final theatrical movie in 1992)! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this lobby card does not have the title on it, but instead has a blank rectangular box. These were printed in England for original English release movies. They would overprint some of the cards with the titles in English, but send out the cards blank to other countries, and then the people in those countries would fill in the blank box with the titles in their own particular language. We have had cards of this sort with blank boxes, cards with English titles printed on them, and cards with titles handwritten on them in other languages. Note that we can't say for certain that this is from "Carry On Cleo", because the card has no title on it, but we think it is likely that it is. If anyone knows for certain what movie this card is from, please e-mail us and we will post it here. UPDATED 07/12/2011: Note that a knowledgeable collector confirms that this is the film "Carry On Cleo"! Condition: good to very good.
