An Original Vintage Theatrical English Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" [8 x 8 cm]) (Learn More) Sessue Hayakawa was a Japanese actor from the 1910s to the 1960s. He was typecast playing Asian villains in the 1910s and 1920s. He made a memorable return from a long partial break from films with his starring role in The Bridge On The River Kwai (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film). Some of his other movies include: Swiss Family Robinson, House of Bamboo, and The Begger Prince. He passed away in 1973 at the age of 84. Important Added Info: Note that this is an unusual glass slide. It measures 3 1/4" square, and has only a single pane of glass. It has a snipe glued across the top that gives the name and address of an English film company, so we are sure it is a very early English glass slide. It may be that it originally had a second pane that is missing, but the snipe is glued to the top of the single pane. Also note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: good. The slide may have originally had a second glass pane (see above). There are some faint smudges scattered on the slide. Learn More about condition grades
