An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures 30" x 40" [76 x 102 cm]) (Learn More)

The Connection, the 1962 Shirley Clarke black African American jazz musicians heroin drug culture melodrama ("Men held captive by the power of drugs"; based on the stage play by Jack Gelber; about a documentary filmmaker who tells a group of black jazz musicians that he will pay for the heroin they are waiting for if they will let him film them waiting for it and shooting it up!; they talk him into trying it himself so he can really understand, and one of the musicians overdoses, but recovers; each of the principal characters take turns talking directly to the camera and telling about themselves) starring Warren Finnerty, Jerome Raphael, Garry Goodrow, Jim Anderson, and Carl Lee. Note that this movie was controversial when it first came out, and still is today. There are those who think it negatively portrays blacks and implies that all jazz musicians were heroin addicts, and there are others who feel it is an accurate portrayal of how things actually were at that time, and they point to the fact that many of the greatest jazz musicians WERE heroin addicts!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had some creases and scuffs scattered in the solid black areas. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and any restorer could touch them up without re-backing the poster).
