Date Sold 1/10/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Argentinean Movie Poster (measures 14 1/4" x 28 1/2" [36 x 72 cm]) (Learn More) Sally in our Alley, 1927 Walter Lang silent girl-of-the-tenements romantic love triangle comedy ("An idyll of the tenements"; "From the story by Edward Clark"; about an orphan girl who is "adopted" by three kindly men who live on the street where she does, one Irish, one Jewish, and one Italian, and when she becomes a teenager, she has a plumber boyfriend, but then a rich woman comes and takes her away because she is her aunt, but the girl soon realizes she prefers her old friends and her old life, and she marries her plumber!) starring Shirley Mason (in the title role as Sally Williams), Richard Arlen, Alec B. Francis, Paul Panzer, William H. Strauss, Kathlyn Williams, Florence Turner, and Harry Crocker. Note that "Sally in Our Alley" was a popular poem and song first written in 1725. There was a silent movie of that name in 1916 and a sound movie in 1931, but neither movie has a connection to this movie beyond the name. Finally, note that this was one of the early starring roles Richard Arlen received after his great success in "Wings", earlier this same year! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a remarkable find of 143 Argentinean posters from 1926 to 1929 that were recently discovered! They all measure approximately 14 1/4" x 28 1/4", which was one of the two main sizes created for Argentinean movie posters at that time (the other was a poster that measured 29" x 43"). It is likely that prior to this amazing find, there were only a small number of these posters known to exist in the entire world, and after these 143 are auctioned, it is unlikely that there will be many more discovered, even over the coming decades! This is a rare opportunity to purchase an Argentinean poster from the late 1920s, a time when virtually no movie posters from any country are known to exist! Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. There are a few minor patches of slight discoloration scattered in various areas (more so along the foldlines), typical of Argentinean posters of this time period. There are some pinholes around the edges (some are torn or enlarged due to rough removal). It is otherwise in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
